Facility Layout Problem with Alternative Facility Variants

The facility layout problem is one of the fundamental production system management problems. It has a significant impact on overall efficiency. This paper introduces new that allows for choosing from multiple variants each facility. need most suitable selection while at same time optimizing other quality indicators represents optimization challenge. We build our previous work where single- and multi-objective evolutionary algorithms using indirect representation were proposed to solve problem. Here, are adapted variants, including solution variation operators. Additionally, cooling schedule, whose role control exploration/exploitation ratio during course process, proposed. was inspired by schedule used in simulated annealing technique. extended have been experimentally evaluated two data sets, with without alternative facilities. obtained results demonstrate capability newly formulated efficiently. also shows improves convergence algorithms.
